Iliana Iotova accepted the role of patron of the BAUHAUS World Championships – the World Championships for athletes with Down syndrome, which will take place in Sofia from 13–19 June 2026.

“For us, it is a great honour that President Iliana Iotova has accepted the role of patron of the World Championships. This is a strong sign of support for our cause and for all athletes who, through determination, talent, and inspiration, prove that sport has no limits.

The event is an important step toward the inclusion of athletes with different abilities and the promotion of the values of equality, respect, and solidarity. We are confident that Sofia will host an unforgettable championship that will bring together people from around the world in the name of sport and human values,” said Slav Petkov, President of the Federation for Adapted Physical Activity (FAPA).

Championship ambassadors are Karlos Nasar and Grigor Dimitrov, while the faces of the artistic and rhythmic gymnastics disciplines are Krasimir Dunev and Boryana Kaleyn.

More than 400 athletes from over 40 countries will take part in the World Championships, organized by the Federation for Adapted Physical Activity. Competitors will participate in five sports – artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, tennis, table tennis, and athletics.
