During the 2026 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Sofia, the upcoming World Championships for athletes with Down syndrome were presented to Morinari Watanabe – President of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and one of the leading figures in global gymnastics.
During the meeting, the concept, organizational preparation, and key objectives of the championship were outlined. The event will take place from 13–19 June 2026 in Sofia.
The meeting marks an important step in establishing the event on an international level and in building sustainable partnerships for the development of sport for people with Down syndrome.
