Bulgaria celebrated a historic achievement at the BAUHAUS Down Syndrome World Championships Bulgaria 2026 as Aleksandar Asenov won the gold medal in the Men's Triathlon and set a new world record with a total of 2,748 points.
After years of dedicated training and hard work alongside his personal coach, Dimitar Petrov, the Bulgarian athlete reached the pinnacle of world competition and deservedly claimed the world title.
On his way to victory, Aleksandar recorded the following results:
- 100 metres – 13.46 seconds
- Shot Put – 9.13 m
- Long Jump – 4.62 m
His total score of 2,748 points not only secured the gold medal but also established a new world record in the event.
The final standings in the Men's Triathlon were:
- Aleksandar Asenov (Bulgaria) – 2,748 points – World Record
- David Vodstrčil (Czechia) – 2,471 points
- Štěpán Schwarz (Czechia) – 2,217 points
With a margin of 277 points over the second-placed athlete, Aleksandar Asenov demonstrated outstanding form, determination and championship spirit, placing Bulgaria at the top of the world stage.
